Mission:Dignity recipients in Indiana to receive 13th Check in 2023

Mission:Dignity^® recipients in Indiana will receive an extra check — a 13th check — in 2023, thanks to churches in the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana.

Indiana is the latest state convention to join with GuideStone^® to provide a check equivalent to one month’s honorarium.

“I’m a third-generation minister,” said Ryan Strother, executive director of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana. “My grandfather preached until he was 90 years old, so I know the challenges that come with growing older in ministry. These Indiana recipients are worthy of this thirteenth check. Praise God for their faithfulness and the faithfulness of our churches to give to the Cooperative Program to make this possible!”

In 2022, Mission:Dignity assisted more than 2,800 individuals with extra money needed for housing, food and vital medications. It also ensures a well-deserved dignity, independence and, often, the ability to continue serving the Lord. This year, fifteen pastors and their wives, or their widows, in Indiana will receive this extra blessing.

GuideStone President Hance Dilbeck expressed his thanks for the continued generosity of Indiana churches.

“Indiana Baptists have done well in ensuring that these faithful servants are not forgotten,” Dilbeck said. “I am thankful for this wonderful gift. Our pastors, their wives and the widows we serve through Mission:Dignity will be blessed tremendously by this extra check, thanks to the leadership of the Indiana convention.”

Mission:Dignity expressed its thankfulness for the efforts of Indiana churches.

“What an incredible honor it is to see our Indiana Southern Baptist family join together with us to serve Mission:Dignity recipients in their state,” Mission:Dignity Director Aaron Meraz said. “We are thankful for them and for the other states that have seen fit to serve the pastors and other church workers who served so faithfully—they are truly due a double honor for their service to the Lord.”
