Through our faith, we know that God is the ultimate healer. And researchers have also noted that that prayer and faith can positively affect your total well-being.
Here are three ways you can focus on your health and well-being while honoring the Lord.
Commit to taking care and prioritizing your health so that you can focus on fulfilling your calling. Lean in by asking the Lord to help you find ways to steward your health well.
As Scripture says, Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19–20, ESV)
Read and pray Isaiah 40:29–31. Have hope that the Lord will renew your health and strength.
Isaiah writes, He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29–31, ESV)
Lean into the power of community and being a part of your church body. Studies have found that deep faith and ties to a church community are among the best predictors for well-being and recovery from disease.
You are not alone in your journey towards total well-being. Consult with your doctor to develop and achieve your personal wellness goals. Healthy lifestyle choices may help you prevent or manage the risks of serious health conditions like obesity. Remember to turn to the Lord for help along your wellness journey.
