1. International Mission Board (IMB)
- SOUTH ASIAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES - The East Indians of St. Lucia are an unengaged, unreached people group of 4,100. They speak St. Lucian Creole French and are nonreligious. Not adhering to their traditional religious practices leaves them open to hearing the truth. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers to share the gospel with these East Indian people.
- RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (REE-oh day juh-NAIR-oh) - Please pray for a conversational language club that takes place weekly on a university campus in Rio de Janeiro. Ask that this will be a means to meet many students and have gospel conversations that transform lives. Pray for the couple who is leading the club to have wisdom in choosing conversational themes that will lead to such conversations.
- DANES OF DENMARK - Please pray for a church planter in Copenhagen who is partnering with a language school in hopes of sharing Christ. He will be preparing and leading a class exploring Christianity as an elective class for students who are at the school to learn the Danish language. Ask God to draw people to Himself through this class. Pray that the gospel seeds planted in students’ hearts will bring forth a harvest of faith in Copenhagen!
Answered prayers/praise:
- KARAMOJONG OF UGANDA - Last summer, an IMB team in Uganda requested prayer for wisdom with how to implement a program to help malnourished children. Thank you for praying! In February this year, the team reported that such a program is now in place, led by a nurse on their team along with three Ugandan partners.
- DEAF PEOPLES - In January 2022, we asked God to raise up Deaf nationals to join workers in translating and filming Bible stories into their local sign language. God answered our prayers! Last year, teams of workers and Deaf nationals started Scripture translation for sign languages that are local to Niger, Serbia, Slovenia, and Ukraine. Thank you for praying.
- LAST FRONTIER - Your prayers are making a difference among an unreached people group. Last August, we asked you to start praying for a new Friday brunch ministry among an unreached people group. Workers started this evangelistic ministry to engage seekers who are reluctant to attend a church service. Recently, seekers began attending worship services and a Bible study! Please pray for these seekers to become believers, to commit to baptism, and be discipled.
2. North American Mission Board (NAMB)
- In the spring of 2023 NAMB will be hosting regional gatherings for church planting couples in San Diego, CA, Columbus. GA and in Calgary, Canada. These events are designed to encourage, support and strengthen these leaders as they throw their hearts and souls in the work of planting churches and seeing people come of Christ in very secular, unreached cities. Please pray these couples will be encouraged, strengthened and more deeply bonded in their marriages.
3. Theological education
Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Kansas City, MO)
- We had a student, Caylee Dugger, tragically pass away in a car accident a couple of weeks ago. Pray for her family and friends and our campus community.
- Pray that God would continue to grow and equip our students with a love for Christ and a love and knowledge of His word.
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Wake Forest, NC)
- Pray that our students, staff, and faculty would be unwavering in their obedience to Jesus Christ’s Great Commission and that our institution would tirelessly equip students to serve the Church across the country and around the world.
- Pray that our students would proclaim Christ with love, clarity, and boldness during our seven institutional mission trips this spring and summer. We thank God for the fruitful gospel conversations our students had on their mission trip to Houston this fall.
- Pray that our Global Theological Initiatives Office would experience continued growth and provide conservative biblical and theological education in more countries around the world. Praise God that we will celebrate our first graduation in our Persian Leadership program this year as we commission students to reach Muslims throughout Europe and the Middle East.
- Pray for the launch of our Center for Biblical Text and Translation in the fall. Pray that the center would equip missionaries and translators on the field to teach the word with accuracy and faithfulness.
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY)
- Pray for our internationals, who we consider as the group on campus that needs our attention and extra support.
4. Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission
- Please pray for us as we are working with IMB and Send Relief to potentially place ultrasound machines with IMB missionaries doing medical missions.
- We have a new VP and Chief of Staff: Miles Mullin. He loves Southern Baptists and wants to serve the convention so please pray for him as he adjusts to his new role and leading alongside Brent Leatherwood, our new ERLC president.
- Psalm 139 Project Praise: During our end-of-year donation campaign, we raised $168,000 for the Psalm 139 Project! That allows us to place about 5-6 ultrasound machines. We are hoping to place those machines in "abortion destination" states like Illinois and Michigan.
5. Executive Committee
- Continue to pray for the next leader God has called to lead the SBC Executive Committee.
- Pray for the upcoming SBC Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, which happens June 13-14, 2023.
- Pray with thanksgiving for gifts to the Cooperative Program and the Kingdom-work support it provides all over the Convention.
